Turn Your Wasted Time into Success

Many may not realize the untapped time in their schedule. The five minutes spent waiting for the cab, or ten minutes waiting on dinner, can be used to help improve quality of life and goal achievement.

That is not to say that one must spend every waking second doing, working, or producing. Scheduling time for meditation, exercise, and, of course sleep, is vital. It is a cultural phenomenon, people becoming enveloped in useless apps, games, virtual worlds and everything else that can substitute reality. Social media addiction is a whole topic in and of itself that deserves is own article.

One the most vital parts of the scheduling process, is the few minutes here and there that no one includes on their schedule. Like the quarters accumulated in a piggy bank, these precious minutes of life can be used toward a reward, instead of wasted. This process will impact self- esteem positively, too. Individuals that value every minute of their day are clearly going to be more productive. The less obvious improvement will be in personal self-esteem, first when the process starts, because the individual knows they are making steps toward self-improvement, but certainly when the first “reward” is attained, showing the fruits of their labor.

The first step is to pick the goal or reward and identify what the “go to” time filler is. Most will be able to identify what their "go to" waste of time is. Realize that most things can be utilized in a manner that is productive, but over utilization leads to waste. Try it for a week. Start slowly and substitute a free online class for Pinterest, or whatever your heart desires that will make you feel like your time is valuable and help you achieve something.

It starts with you, respect your time and yourself!

Your reward is waiting for you.
