Our Brand Story
I have always been fascinated by people. I am fascinated by cultures and how similar we all are, yet there are so many obvious differences. When it was time to choose my career path, I was strongly encouraged to pursue a “hard science.” Chemistry, physics, etc. That was not what I came to know as my passion.
Not wanting to major in psychology, feeling like I had learned so much about the topic that my mind was saturated from years of reading psychology books, I was drawn to anthropology. I learned about cultures developed and how ethnocentric societies can be and wanted to learn how to educate people about other cultures. This may strike you as shocking, but it’s not that easy to find a profitable career in anthropology.
After pursuing my first business, SignSmiths, a digital graphics and vinyl production business, I realized I had a lot more to learn about the mechanics of truly running my own business successfully. I was motivated to earn money, but more so, I wanted to make sure I could make a living while raising my family, and feeling like I was contributing something back to my communities. That is how I found myself in business school.
I started gathering clients in business school. The skills I learned while I owned SignSmith were useful for marketing. As my experience grew, my client base naturally grew as well. Business school at FIU was such a fantastic experience. I met some truly lovely people, and gained the confidence in my skills, and the knowledge, I was looking for. So upon graduation I decided to officially begin my journey with Rose Marketing and Consulting, although I unofficially started a couple of years earlier.
It began with simply helping friends improve their “hustles” which in some cases turned into full-fledged businesses I have the honor of learning and growing with. One notable story was with RegenX Battery Solutions, now a multi-location distributor of recycled batteries in Southern Georgia and Northern Florida. RegenX helps keep batteries out of landfills by essentially “recharging” them. That is the type of company I love to watch grow. A company that is contributing something beneficial: helping our environment and providing an expensive product at a fraction of the cost. As a marketing manager and consultant with RegenX I grew even more. Small businesses in our community can quickly become part of its culture. I am helping shape the culture in this region by promoting businesses that can make a positive impact for all of us.
Word of mouth spread and before I knew it clients were requesting business plans, logos, even to write contacts and grants. Much of my work was bids online at first, no easy feat. Now it is a good mixture of internet gathered business and local business. Like most businesses, we do upkeep social media, but on LinkedIn I felt most comfortable and efficient. It was probably my responsibilities as a employee trainer that inspired my next educational delve, my doctorate. Sure, I wouldn’t mind being a tenured professor at some point, but my goal is to innovate while I educate. Having done so much work remotely. There are so many ways to improve distance learning and distance business, trust me when I say you have not seen anything yet! I am hoping to contribute data to help those in higher learning improve the platforms and applications used with my dissertation research.
Business anthropology is my passion, but I have acquired many skills along the way, which is why Rose Marketing offers a very wide range of services. I thrive on learning so if I don’t have a necessary skill, like digitizing and publishing a book, I will teach myself. Each client teaches me something new about the industry and myself.
I look forward to my next opportunity for growth!
